Dai Day 2025
The second Amirkabir Data Mining & Artificial Intelligence Day (DAI-DAY-2025) event was held on February 5, 2025 at Amirkabir University of Technology. It was met by researchers, students, technology professionals, and interdisciplinary enthusiasts. The event, which was held with the efforts of the scientific association and students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of Amirkabir University of Technology for several months and with the financial support of DOTIN, provided a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge, present new research, and explore future trends in artificial intelligence and data mining. The ceremony began with a speech by Mr. Behnam Yousefimehr, the event's executive secretary. While welcoming the participants, he discussed the importance and goals of this scientific gathering to bring together the views of those interested in the interdisciplinary field. He emphasized the need for constructive interaction between academia and industry. Referring to the path of growth and evolution of the DAI-DAY event, Yousefimehr appreciated the efforts of the executive team, the scientific committee, and the support of DOTIN, and considered this event a platform for knowledge exchange and creating opportunities for cooperation between researchers and industry activists from various sectors of engineering, experimental sciences, medicine, and humanities. He also emphasized the importance of communication between experts in the fields of artificial intelligence, data mining, and scientific networking. He spoke about the role of this event in the formation of a new generation of interdisciplinary experts.
In the following, Prof. Dariush Kiani, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at Amirkabir University of Technology, emphasized the importance of the university's role in the development of new technologies and stated that progress in areas such as artificial intelligence and data science requires a balanced approach and fair allocation of resources. He noted that the path to the development of these sciences should be properly paved by relying on the insight and deep knowledge of experienced professors in the fields of mathematics, computer science, and statistics. He also considered holding such events an important factor in creating scientific enthusiasm among students and researchers and appreciated the organizers' efforts to provide a platform for knowledge exchange. He described artificial intelligence and data mining as the most key areas of progress for the global community and added: These sciences are undoubtedly based on mathematics, computer science, and statistics, and fortunately, this connection has been deeply and considered in the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science.
Next, invited speakers, including prominent professors from universities in the country and people active in the industry, presented their experiences. First, Mr. Mohammad Amin Ghaemi (Technical Director of DOTIN Qazvin Office) introduced the various measures taken by DOTIN Company and School to cultivate suitable personnel in the field of artificial intelligence and explained job opportunities and methods of cooperation with DOTIN.
Next, Dr. Masoud Mahootchi (Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management Systems) emphasized interdisciplinary research in the field of artificial intelligence. Then, the relationship between artificial intelligence and reinforcement learning with simulation and optimization in various applications was emphasized by this prominent researcher. The use of regression models and metamodels to solve industrial problems was also considered in this speech.
Dr. Hossein Zeinali (faculty member of the Computer Engineering Department of Amirkabir University of Technology), another speaker at the opening ceremony, examined various methods of natural language processing and voice analysis and provided practical recommendations for using hybrid models in this field.
Dr. Hadi Zare (Head of the Faculty of Intelligent Systems, University of Tehran), also discussed the applications of artificial intelligence in social networks and the development of Graph Neural Network (GNN) networks in practical applications, including in transportation and insurance. The field of artificial intelligence in solving various problems by discovering connections between problem components through graphs was another emphasis of this interdisciplinary researcher.
Prof. Mohammad Sharifi (Director of Industry Relations at Amirkabir University of Technology), also presented the latest achievements of artificial intelligence in the oil industry, emphasizing the localization of artificial intelligence methods in line with the needs of the industry. This prominent researcher and professor of petroleum engineering considered the weakness in data sets as one of the challenges facing artificial intelligence projects in the oil industry and supported the implementation of industrial projects related to artificial intelligence by forming interdisciplinary groups.
Dr. Ali Mohaddes, a faculty member at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, highlighted the significant role of artificial intelligence in addressing contemporary challenges. During his presentation, he referred to the experiences of renowned computer science experts and underscored the necessity for both attention to detail and quality in artificial intelligence products. He also stressed the importance of a specialized perspective on artificial intelligence, exploring its applications across various fields.
A noteworthy aspect of this event was a dedicated meeting featuring university professors and leading industry figures, moderated by Prof. Mehdi Ghatee, the Scientific Secretary and Event Chairman. According to this computer scientist, the interplay among academia, industry, and government is crucial in navigating the landscape of artificial intelligence, transforming challenges into opportunities. The government plays a vital role in policymaking, aiming to integrate the efforts of both universities and industries. Often, these three entities face a disconnect: while one party seeks concrete problems to address, the others anticipate miraculous outcomes—a sentiment that is especially prevalent among policymakers. This unrealistic expectation can lead to misunderstandings among the three sectors. As noted by this researcher and head of the Center for Information Technology, Security, and Smartization at Amirkabir University of Technology, organizing such events can facilitate dialogue among these stakeholders, fostering collaboration that is essential for successful artificial intelligence initiatives.
In this meeting, well-known figures including Dr. Mohammad Mahdi Bejani (Technical Director of Arman Company), Ms Narges Mohammadinejad (CEO and Founder of Ahura Artificial Intelligence Company), Mr. Hamed Alizadegan (Senior Programmer of Datain Artificial Intelligence) and Mr. Sepanta Montazeri (Founder of XRBax Startup) discussed and exchanged views on new trends, challenges and opportunities facing artificial intelligence and the role of students and researchers in this path.
This part of the program provided a suitable space for interaction between the university and industry and presented solutions to strengthen scientific and commercial cooperation, the most important of which was the creation of reliable mechanisms for data sharing, attention to lightweight models for learning tasks, and the creation of appropriate hardware-software models in the field of artificial intelligence.
In the scientific part of this event, papers submitted by 100 groups of researchers were nominated for presentations, of which 8 groups were selected to present lectures and 18 were selected as posters and were presented in the afternoon of the event. These studies, which covered the latest scientific achievements and practical applications of artificial intelligence and data mining, were widely welcomed by the participants.
At the end of the ceremony, Prof. Ghatee thanked all the speakers, participants, and the executive team. While expressing his satisfaction with the successful holding of this event, he emphasized the importance of continuing such programs for the scientific and industrial growth and progress of the country and expressed his hope that this path will continue with greater strength in the future.
The DAI-DAY-2025 event once again proved that Iranian researchers and students have a very high ability to develop new technologies in the country. This scientific gathering provided a dynamic platform for networking, presenting the latest research, and creating constructive interaction between universities and industry, and took an important step towards the development of knowledge and technology in the field of artificial intelligence and data mining.
